27 Dec World Cup ski races 2016 in Santa Caterina
Here we are! The day has come! Today is the first out of three #pureadrenaline days: this morning Santa Caterina will be helding the first of three World Cup ski races: the Lake Louise Super-G Recovery (cancelled for lack of snow).
The track was perfectly prepared for the World Cup races, to allow athletes to give their best.
Mens’s Downhill – Deborah Compagnoni Slope
The start of the race has been lowered to “Crap del Ricc”, the jump that athletes would have faced a few seconds after the start.
The Men’s World Cup chief race director Markus Waldner explains it: “It is a very challenging jump and with just one training available we consider this passage as a risky one, especially for younger athletes. But the DH will be as spectacular as usual, considering the many difficulties of the Deborah Compagnoni track”.
The DH will lose only 4 seconds (compared to last year’s winner timing, the French skier Theaux) and 60 meters in altitude towards the original 1005.
From 5:00 pm in the square Magliavaca, in Santa Caterina, you can watch the presentation of the Special Olympic Games Italy, in addition to the parade with the champions of the Italian team and the bibs draw.
